Family Day Care

Family Day Care

Family Day Care is:

  • Personal – Low educator to child ratios provide the opportunity for children to form genuine long lasting bonds with their qualified and passionate early childhood educator. Family Day Care offers the possibility for siblings to be cared for together, all in one location.
  • Flexible – Dependent on individual arrangements, our service can offer quality education and care during standard hours, evening, before/after school, during school holidays and in some cases overnight and weekends.
  • Individualised – Our qualified educators offer individualised learning programs for the children they care for.
  • Fun – Our service believes children learn best when they are having fun and feel free to express their emotions and enjoy feeling present in each moment as they play. Educators aim to encourage each child’s natural curiosity, develop a love of learning, and send them home with a smile on their face.
  • Safe – All educators and homes or venues must meet the strict safety standards of the National Quality Framework, comprising of the Education and Care Services National Law Act, Education and Care Services National Regulations, and the National Quality Standards. Our qualified and experienced Coordination Unit team visit educators’ home or venue on a regular basis to monitor and support our educators.
  • Affordable – Eligible families can apply to receive the government child care subsidy (CSS) on the full fee amount for education and care provided (capped at $11.10 per hour per child).

Council is proud to be the approved provider of Southern Grampians Shire Council Family Day Care, providing education and care for babies and children up to 13 years of age.

Statement of Commitment to Child Safety

Southern Grampians Shire Council is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people and has a zero tolerance of child abuse. It is the role of the educator and the coordination unit staff to ensure our service is a safe, supportive and enriching environment that respects and fosters the dignity and self-esteem of children and young people, and enables them to thrive in their learning and development. All children, regardless of their gender, race, religious beliefs, age, disability, sexual orientation or family or social background, have equal rights to protection from abuse.

The Service is committed to the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and those from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to providing a safe environment for children living with a disability.

The Service will actively seek the opinions of all children on matters that concern them, and will implement strategies to empower them to understand personal safety and their right to speak out.

Everyone working in our service has a duty of care and is responsible for the protection of the children within our care and for reporting information about suspected child abuse.

All staff, contractors and their family members, students and volunteers of Southern Grampians Shire Council Family Day Care have a shared responsibility to ensure the Child Safe policy is accepted as a high priority. All stakeholders are required to observe Child Safe Principles and expectations for appropriate behaviour towards and in the company of children, as noted in the Child Safe Code of Conduct.
